Michael A. Corey has had a lifelong interest
in astronomy and the natural sciences. An avid follower
of America's space program as a young child, Michael soon
came to be fascinated by the mere suggestion that intelligent
life forms might exist elsewhere in the universe. This
interest eventually led him to question whether or not any
of the earth's specific features could have been determined
by the influence of any type of extraterrestrial intelligence
(including God). This question eventually grew to become
the central focus his research career.
Michael eventually
reached the conclusion that nature's true character cannot
be understood apart from the activity of a very specific
form of Extraterrestrial Intelligencenamely, God Himself!
This insight unexpectedly took place during an organic chemistry
lecture in college, and it was this sudden "aha" experience
that ended up defining the central course of his entire
research program.>
It was Michael's
simultaneous interest in the problem of evil that led him
to study with some of the greatest minds in the field at
Claremont Graduate School in Southern California. This academic
experience turned out to be a pivotal one for him, because
it led to the publication of a series of natural theology
texts that focused on the empirical evidence for Design,
particularly in the fields of cosmology and organic evolution.
It was at Claremont that Michael developed his developmentally-based
theodicy for both moral and natural evils, in which the
omnipotent God of classical theism ends up being preserved
in the face of worldly evil.
The
God Hypothesis represents the culmination of Michael's
research career. Not only does it establish the existence
of God beyond reasonable doubt through a careful analysis
of the latest cosmological findings, it also defines the
various aspects of the divine character using exclusively
empirical means. The God Hypothesis
further attempts to establish the proper role of supernatural
agency in the modern scientific method. In his spare time,
Michael enjoys traveling the world in search of fascinating
archaeological mysteries. He also enjoys running and playing
jazz guitar.
